Pre-birth Acupuncture
Pre-birth acupuncture & homeopathy from 36 weeks gestation.
The aim of pre-birth acupuncture is to prepare the mother’s body for the physical and emotional demands of labour and delivery. I want women to experience natural and efficient labour and ultimately to enjoy the birthing process. A positive birthing experience is the best start to motherhood and will positively impact mother-baby bonding. I use acupuncture points whose properties to assist labour have been backed up through decades of clinical experience by practitioners all over the world. Carefully chosen points on the legs are used to ripen the cervix (soften it so as it is more pliable) and to release oxytocin. The overall result can be a more natural and efficient labour, and a relaxed frame of mind leading up to the birth.
Acupressure applied during labour can be quite incredible at keeping things going and relieving pain. Having experienced the benefits myself, it is something I am very motivated to share with pregnant women and their support people. Bring a support person along to one of your pre-birth sessions and I will demonstrate these points so you can both feel confident about how and when to use them. Having the knowledge and skills to use these points can empower your support person to have a more hands-on role during labour.
Homeopathy can be useful at stimulating labour, promoting efficient labour and calming the emotional state. I can suggest homeopathic remedies to be used during labour and also prescribe any others that I think you need at the time of seeing me.
