During Treatment
When Ruby came to me she was in obvious distress with her skin condition which had been diagnosed as eczema. As shown in the photos, the worst area was surrounding her eyes but she also had it over her arms and legs in a much less intense presentation. Around her eyes the skin was inflamed, dry and itching constantly. The sensation was stinging, burning and hot. she had not been attending school regularly over the past 6 months due to the appearance and discomfort. It is of no surprise that her mood was very low, she had lost her spark and according to her mum she was no longer the bubbly Ruby she used to know.
Ruby had seen a doctor, a dermatologist and a paediatrician. Steroid tablets and cream had been prescribed but the results were partial and temporary with a flare up when the cream was discontinued. At Ruby’s next appointment the dermatologist suggested further tests in addition to increasing the steroid cream. This was a turning point for Ruby as her mum decided to look towards a more natural approach, rather than restart the steroids.
Ruby was keen to try homeopathic remedies but not acupuncture and this was perfectly ok with me. Acupuncture is generally a relaxing and gentle experience and the needles are very fine, insertion is usually painless. However, after being subjected to a bout of blood tests Ruby never wanted to see a needle again. Prior to seeing me, Ruby had started treatment with a chiropractor. Homeopathy and chiropractic care work well together, - optimal spinal function can improve physical function and set the stage for healing.
I prescribed three different remedies over several months.
